Linda Manor Assisted Living and Linda Manor Extended Care host “Successful Aging Summit” events on June 28

NORTHAMPTON, MASS. (May 31, 2016) – Linda Manor Assisted Living and Linda Manor Extended Care in Northampton will host the second “Successful Aging Summit” on Tuesday, June 28, between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch are included. The day’s events are free and include a continental breakfast at Linda Manor Assisted Living, 345 Haydenville Road in Leeds, followed by a keynote address at 10:15 a.m. by Beth Warner, MD, medical director at Linda Manor.

Morning sessions beginning at 11:30 a.m. include presentations on “Talking to Your Healthcare Providers about Sexuality” with Ashley Mader, LICSW, Ph.D., Director of Our Shine; “The 411 on Joint Replacements” with Lynn Proulx, Rehab Director at Porchlight VNA/Home Care; “How to Prevent Sore Soles” with Diane Roder, RN; and “Alternate Medications for Older Adults” with Liz Kapitulik, LICSW, C-ASWCM.

Following a barbecue lunch, afternoon sessions starting at 1:45 p.m. will include “Alzheimer’s 101” with Marcia McKenzie of the Alzheimer’s Association Massachusetts and New Hampshire Chapter; “Helpful Tips from the Social Security Administration” with Sabrina Feliciano, Social Security Administration; “Do You Hear What I Hear?” with Deb Reed, Au.D.; and “Easy Core Strength Exercises You Can Do At Home” with Dominick Uguccioni, CPT, M.Ed.

Afternoon sessions beginning at 2:15 p.m. include “How to Prevent an Identity Theft Crisis” with Lisa Blanchette of Citizens Bank; “Getting Prepared: Key Estate Documents” with Attorney Karen Jackson; “Talking to Your Doctor: How to Get the Care You Deserve and Desire” with Janet Bunce, Geriatric Case Manager, Care for Our Elders; and “Innovative Fall Prevention Programs: The Otago Approach” with Paul McCloskey, PT, Caretenders VNA.
