Linda Manor offers free seminars on caring for aging relative or spouse on May 11 and 12

LEEDS, MASS. (April 11, 2016) – Linda Manor Assisted Living in Leeds will host seminars on caring for an aging relative or spouse on May 11 and 12 featuring expert advice from Joan Roche, PhD, RN, GCNS-BC.

The sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, May 11 at noon and again at 5:30 p.m., and Thursday, May 12 at noon. Each event will include a buffet lunch or dinner. To RSVP please call Linda Manor Assisted Living at 413-588-3316.

Topics to be covered include how to recognize signs of deteriorating health; understanding the stages of Alzheimer’s disease; evaluating care options including in-home care, assisted living and skilled nursing care; how to talk to a relative or spouse about health and safety concerns; assisted living; and how to determine the most appropriate care options.

Joan Roche, Ph.D., MS, RN, CS is a Board Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gerontological Nursing and a former Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Roche has published numerous articles on nursing and has spoken on aging and health care matters before consumer and provider groups nationwide. Currently, Dr. Roche is Chair of the Evaluation Committee for a nationwide Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to improve care transition in health care.
